In September 2024, we launched our brand-new Competition Team, and our dancers made an incredible debut—earning three 1st-place awards and placing Top 5 at every competition in their first season.

Our competition program focuses on:

• Lyrical & Contemporary

• Group routines & trios

• A supportive, drama-free team culture

• Strong technique, artistry, and confidence

For dedicated dancers age 10+ prepared to train at a high level and represent Academy of Ballet during the 2026–2027 competitive season.

The AOB Competitive Standard

AOB Competition Team is built on discipline, advanced technique, artistry, and full-season commitment.

• Season begins September 2026

• 5+ competitions in 2027

• 4–9 dancers selected per team

Full season expectations and financial details will be reviewed at auditions.

Age 10+ by January 2027

Required Technique:

• Solid single+ pirouette (L/R)

• Splits (L/R)

• Double stag (L/R)

• Strong technical vocabulary

Shooting Stars

Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary/Lyrical dancer
Age 10+ by January 2027

Required Technique:

• Solid double+ pirouette (L/R)

• Splits (L/R)

• Double stag (L/R)

• Solid calypso (L/R)

• Strong technical vocabulary

Supernovas

Advanced Contemporary/Lyrical dancer
Age 10+ by January 2027

Required Technique:

• Triple+ pirouette (right), double+ (left)

• Splits (L/R)

• Double stag (L/R)

• Solid calypso (L/R)

• Strong center leap

• Advanced technical vocabulary

 

Commitment Expectations

Competition team participation requires:

• 100% rehearsal attendance (max 4 absences)

• No conflicting sports, activities, or vacations

• Rehearsals held Fridays, and/or Tuesdays (varies by team)

• Full-season dedication September 2026–Competition season 2027

This program is designed for dancers prepared to prioritize their training and growth.

 

Required Training

All competition dancers must be enrolled in:

• Ballet

• Contemporary

• Jazz

at Academy of Ballet for the duration of the season to maintain proper technique and performance quality.
